Job description

Everforth ECS is seeking a Junior Cloud Network Engineer to work in the National Capital Region covering the Pentagon, Falls Church, and Fairfax. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.
The War Data Platform (WDP) is a key initiative within the U.S. Department of War's (DoW) AI-First strategy introduced in early 2026. The WDP separates business and financial data from operational warfighting data, aiming to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence (AI) on the battlefield. The WDP extends to Unclassified, Secret, and Top Secret environments, and supports collaboration between Combatant Commands, Joint Staff directorates, Senior Executive Service leaders, and operational analysts.
• The Junior Cloud Network Engineer supports the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of cloud networking infrastructure across WDP's classified and unclassified operating environments under the guidance of senior network engineering staff. This is an entry-level role offering hands-on experience with enterprise AWS cloud networking in support of DoW mission systems spanning NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS.
• Supports implementation and maintenance of cloud network configurations supporting War Data Platform (WDP) Core Integration operations across Department of War enclaves.
• Configures virtual private clouds, subnet assignments, Domain Name System zones, route tables, and basic transit gateway associations under senior engineer guidance.
• Uses CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and VPC Flow Logs to monitor network activity, identify anomalies, and assist with packet trace reviews.
• Performs baseline troubleshooting for connectivity issues, Domain Name System errors, routing conflicts, and virtual private network link degradation.
• Prepares configuration documentation, network diagrams, and update logs supporting system operations deliverables.
• Executes network hardening tasks, encryption configuration steps, and segmentation updates aligned with established procedures.
• Supports load balancer configuration updates, VPC Endpoint adjustments, and elastic Internet Protocol assignments within defined workflows.
• Assists senior engineers during incident investigations by gathering diagnostic outputs, organizing log collections, and preparing preliminary analysis summaries.
• Maintains network inventory records, configuration repositories, and operational dashboards supporting traceability and readiness reporting.
• Contributes to project deliverables by producing status inputs, configuration updates, and performance observations for team reporting cycles.
• Strengthens mission support by promoting stable cloud routing behavior, accurate configuration maintenance, and reliable network performance across distributed operational environments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Current Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
• Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools including CloudWatch, CloudTrail, or VPC Flow Logs in a lab or production environment.
• Basic understanding of network security principles including firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, and encryption concepts applicable to federal or classified cloud environments.
• Foundational knowledge of AWS cloud networking services, including virtual private clouds, subnets, route tables, Domain Name System configurations, and basic security group and access control management.
