Position Specific Summary
Darkroom photography lab technicians are responsible for the general safety and upkeep of photographic labs which include wet silver and alternative processes. Techs serve as as ambassador of studio staff professionalism.
Shifts may occur during classes, which involves preparing the lab, assisting in setup, and supporting faculty and students. Shifts that are outside of class time are to provide open studio and students completing out of class assignments. It is essential to be punctual and present during all shifts.
Techs are responsible for:
  • daily cleaning
  • enforcing safe practices
  • film and print processing equipment checkout
  • general assistance to students, staff, and faculty

Standard Position Description
The student will perform basic laboratory duties and maintain supplies and stocks/inventory. Tasks may include: assisting in specific projects being completed in the lab, cleaning equipment, assisting and monitoring lab usage. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

Required Qualifications
This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided (Students working in an instructional capacity should be very familiar with the subject area in which they are working).
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants should be organized, neat, detail-oriented, and have excellent people skills. All applicants should have at least one year of photography education or currently be enrolled in a darkroom photography class. Must have at least one day of evening and/or weekend availability.
