Job description

SUE Field Technician | Manassas, VA

IMEG is hiring a SUE Field Technician in Manassas, VA, to support subsurface utility locating and daily SUE crew operations. In this entry-level role, you will assist with operating field subsurface utility equipment, geophysical prospecting for underground utilities, and other crew activities under the leadership of a Crew Chief or Office Coordinator. You'll also gain hands-on exposure to core field workflows that support accurate underground utility investigation and mapping.

Principal Responsibilities

Perform field work for SUE location scopes using geophysical prospecting equipment to accurately designate underground utility layouts and complete routine computations for various project types
Operate and assist with SUE equipment, data collection tools, and other location equipment
Transfer files between data collection systems and internal company project folders
Complete quality checks and process field data; download, maintain, and verify the accuracy of project data, reports, and database records
Maintain professional and productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
Operate a company vehicle
Observe safety and security procedures

Required Qualifications and Skills

Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM), or Engineering preferred
Prior experience in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred
Work to gain knowledge of typical SUE marking techniques
Interest in modern SUE equipment, devices, and methods
Problem solving techniques
Ability to work in an outdoor environment
Possesses basic oral and written communication skills
Ability to professionally represent IMEG
Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
Advanced/Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.

Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.

Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
