Junior Tax Advisor

Acorn Financial Services Inc

Reston, VA • On-site

Full-time

Posted 17 days ago

Job description

At Acorn Financial Services, we are systematically eliminating the silos of traditional wealth management. Your mission as a Junior Tax Advisor is to ensure that every investment and estate planning decision is optimized for tax efficiency. You will provide the technical tax analysis required to protect our clients' assets from unnecessary liabilities, working as a core member of an integrated stewardship team.
Who You Are
  • You hold an uncompromising standard of precision: You understand that in tax strategy, a single oversight can lead to significant liabilities. You sweat the details of the tax code to ensure accuracy.
  • You value collaboration over ego: You are not a siloed accountant; you thrive when coordinating with estate attorneys and investment advisors to build one unified legacy plan.
  • You grow through feedback and challenge: You view complex tax scenarios as opportunities for professional mastery and actively seek mentorship from senior strategists.
  • You thrive in disciplined execution: You bring relentless structure to tax season and ongoing planning, ensuring all compliance and strategic deadlines are met with urgency.
  • Must have one of the following credentials: EA, CPA, CPA Candidate or JD with valid PTIN
What You Will Do
  • Prepare individual (1040) and business tax returns (1041, 1065, 1120S) for UHNW clients.
  • Prepare tax projections and advise on estimated payments in conjunction with financial planning goals.
  • Respond to federal and state tax notices.
  • Perform detailed reviews of onboarding client tax returns to identify tax mitigation opportunities.
  • Support senior advisors in modeling the tax implications of proposed investment strategies and estate plan structures.
  • Maintain meticulous tax records, ensuring the advisory team has real-time visibility into the client's tax landscape.
How We Measure Success
  • Maintain a near-zero error rate in tax return preparation,  projections and preliminary strategy reviews.
  • Successfully deliver tax-optimized insights for assigned client accounts.
  • Measurably increase the capacity of Senior Tax Advisors by saving them hours per week through offloading technical modeling and documentation tasks.
What We Offer
We offer a professional environment with flexibility and professional development assistance. Most importantly, we provide an integrated framework that removes traditional, siloed billing pressures, allowing you to focus entirely on client outcomes and technical mastery.
