Job description

IMPORTANT — A custom cover letter is mandatory for this position. Resumes without custom cover letters will be ignored.

To be considered for this position, you must include a customized cover letter with your resume, including, at a minimum, your salary requirements, your specific reasons for wanting THIS position, and a statement confirming that you are not a smoker, do not live with a smoker, and do not wear fragrances.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time Trust and Estate Administration and Elder Law Paralegal. The position is based primarily in our Fairfax, Virginia office, with occasional travel to other meeting locations.

This role is well-suited for an individual who enjoys direct, ongoing client interaction and is capable of managing matters after intake, through to implementation, with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications Applicants Must Demonstrate:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A professional, courteous, and client-focused demeanor
  • The ability to manage priorities, deadlines, and workflow efficiently
  • Comfort taking initiative while also following established systems
  • A commitment to producing work that exceeds baseline expectations
  • Intellectual honesty — knowing what you know, recognizing what you do not, and actively seeking to learn
  • Sound judgment and discretion
  • A cooperative, team-oriented mindset
  • A sense of humor and genuine appreciation for colleagues and clients are a plus.
Compensation:

$50,000 - $60,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

Training and Experience

Some prior experience in estate administration or elder law is essential. We provide comprehensive training on both the substantive law and the firm’s workflow systems.

Successful candidates must be capable of learning complex material, applying it accurately, and following detailed systems with consistency. We invest heavily in training, but we expect intellectual engagement, careful listening, and a strong commitment to mastering the work.

This position is well-suited for someone who may be relatively new to the field but is serious about developing long-term expertise.

Who Thrives Here

This role is a strong fit for someone who values meaningful client service, intellectual rigor, and professional growth in a supportive but high-expectation environment.

You are likely a fit if you are:

  • Genuinely motivated to help seniors and their families
  • Reliable, consistent, and accountable
  • Methodical, process-driven, and detail-focused
  • Ethical, trustworthy, and discreet
  • Empathetic without being emotionally reactive
  • Curious and investigative by nature
  • Comfortable collaborating within a team

Personal traits we value include humility, patience, emotional steadiness, and analytical precision.

Workplace Environment and Benefits

  • 4-day work week offered (10 hours per day).
  • We maintain a smoke-free and fragrance-free office. Applicants must be non-smokers, must not live with a smoker, and must refrain from wearing fragrances at work.
  • Matching retirement plan offered.
  • Health insurance provided.
  • Generous Paid Time Off provided.
  • Pet-friendly office; well-behaved dogs are welcome to accompany you to work.

This position is intended for someone seeking a long-term professional home, not a temporary stop or résumé builder.

Qualifications:
  • Are you submitting your custom cover letter as required by this career posting?
  • Are you a non-smoker, and do you confirm that you do not live with a smoker?
  • Are you able and willing to commute regularly to Fairfax, VA 22030, and travel occasionally to other locations around the DMV area as needed?
  • If you don't already reside in the area, are you willing and able to relocate before starting work?
