Job description

RFA Engineering ( is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an entry to experienced level candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Electrical Engineer
The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff supporting the development, integration, validation, and continuous improvement of electrical systems used on engines, powertrain systems, and off-highway construction and mining equipment. Work may include vehicle electrical architecture, wiring harnesses, sensors, actuators, displays, machine controls integration, power distribution systems, and electrical validation activities. The work will be highly collaborative with both internal customers and external suppliers.
Responsibilities
  • Support the design, development, and integration of electrical systems used on heavy equipment and power systems.
  • Create, review, and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Support electrical validation activities including bench testing, machine testing, and field testing.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic system issues discovered during prototype, pilot, and production builds.
  • Support machine integration activities involving sensors, actuators, displays, controllers, and communication networks.
  • Work with validation, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure robust product performance.
  • Investigate product failures and perform root cause analysis to identify corrective actions.
  • Support product improvement, cost reduction, and product health initiatives.
  • Assist with release and implementation of electrical design changes.
  • Support CAN communication system integration and troubleshooting activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers on component selection, development, and issue resolution.
  • Support factory operations by troubleshooting electrical and electronic system concerns.
  • Collaborate with other groups (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Validation, Quality, Supplier Development, etc.) as necessary.
  • Travel to supplier or customer sites pending project need (up to ~10%).

Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Entry level candidates and experienced candidates will be considered.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel (less than 10% of time).

Desired Attributes
  • Experience with CAN/J1939 communication systems.
  • Experience with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with sensors, actuators, displays, and control systems.
  • Experience with electrical validation and testing activities.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and measurement equipment.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and factory support.
  • Exposure to off-road mobile equipment, power systems, engines, or heavy machinery.
  • Experience supporting prototype, pilot, or production programs.
  • Desire to work in an engineering environment focusing on robust & cost effective design.
