Role Overview
Entry-level opportunity designed for individuals seeking to begin a career in IT support within state government. This role combines hands-on experience with structured training across multiple IT domains including software development, cybersecurity, networking, and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with IT teams across cybersecurity, networking, database administration, and application development.
- Assist in designing, developing, testing, and deploying software solutions.
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following established best practices.
- Participate in Agile activities including stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Follow IT security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data.
- Troubleshoot software and system issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
- Support technical documentation creation (design docs, user guides, test plans).
- Apply foundational data structures and algorithms to real-world problems.
- Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network systems.
- Work closely with mentors and team members in a collaborative learning environment.
- Demonstrate initiative and adaptability in learning new technologies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of computer systems, networking, and common software tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- IT certification or Associate’s degree (completed or in progress) in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and database concepts.
- Exposure to web technologies (HTML, CSS, React).
- Understanding of Git/version control and SDLC concepts.
- Familiarity with branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
