As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking Deposits platform, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
  • Performs heavy coding utilizing Java, Spring, Microservices/RESTful API, relational databases and Cloud services
  • Leads Agile team of 6 as an active developer and contributor by solving and implementing difficult technology challenges for successful team delivery
  • Expand unit testing automation suite capabilities by integrating tests into CI/CD pipeline; ensuring 100% documentation & unit testing of all code delivered
  • Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • 8+ years hands on experience using Java, Spring based technologies and event based microservices in a Cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
  • Strong experience with micro services/RESTful API, relational/NoSQL databases, data modeling and data ingestion frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with data streaming and messaging frameworks (Kafka, Spark, etc.)
  • Understanding of containers (Dockers, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.)
  • Influencing & stakeholder management: Aligns roadmaps; secures cross-functional buy-in with data and clear trade-offs
  • Executive communication: Frames complex tech and risk as business impact with clear options
  • Mentoring: Coaches engineers; builds quality, psychological safety, and continuous improvement
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • AWS certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Design and implement robust automation frameworks and tools to support continuous integration and delivery
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
