Position: Delivery Driver

Position Overview:

Want to start a career at a growing company in a fast-paced industry? Delta Metals is looking for an entry- to mid-level delivery driver to make local deliveries for our work crews. You'll also be part of our logistics team and help keep our grounds and buildings organized, and our inventory updated. If you have a clean driving record and aren't afraid of a little manual labor, this is the position for you!


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Class C Drivers License with ability to obtain DOT Certificate
  • This position is 50% manual labor in our shop and 50% delivery driving to our job sites
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make fast judgment calls when hauling safe loads
  • Ability to listen and be trained by some of our more experienced drivers
  • Ability to learn our industry (sheet metal fabrication)
  • Ability to work courteously with customers, co-workers, and others
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to customers.
  • Ensure truck/trailer is maintained and in safe working order.
  • Ensure vehicles are cleaned regularly and full of gas for the next driver.
  • Inspect trucks and trailers daily for any DOT related violations.
  • Listen to yard manager for location of material
  • Redirect loads based upon load contents; specifically, do not accept loads containing hazardous or unauthorized waste, or other materials not in compliance with regulations
  • Always maintains work area and equipment in a safe and clean condition.
  • Maintain all required records, including Medical Cards and trainings
  • Will be required to work overtime, weekends and during emergency conditions as needed.
  • Assist logistics department in keeping inventory organized in company warehouses, and willing to help keep company grounds and facilities clean and organized
  • Perform other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, maintaining cleanliness of warehouse and other facilities.
  • Requires the ability to use a phone and tablet to input data, such as timecard information, emails, etc.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus for this role


Skills & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of driving experience
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be willing and able to perform manual labor at the shop when needed
  • Must be able to lift, bend, and stoop regularly
  • Must be able to load and unload cargo and use straps to secure a load
  • Must be able to properly secure a load in a truck/trailer
  • Must be able to hook-up and back up a 20-feet trailer
  • Must maintain a clean driving record
  • CDL- Class A- preferred

Job Location: 218 East Lathrop Avenue, Savannah, GA 31415


Working Environment: Work is typically performed while driving to various job sites to and from the shop. Will also include working time in warehouses and containers at our facility in Savannah.


Salary: Starting at $20/hour
