What is an entry level job?

Entry level jobs are positions designed for individuals who are new to the workforce or a particular industry. These roles typically require little to no prior professional experience and often provide on-the-job training. Entry level positions are ideal for recent graduates or those looking to change careers, as they offer opportunities to learn foundational skills, gain experience, and build a career path within a company or industry.

What are entry-level jobs?

Entry-level jobs are positions that do not require any previous experience in the role. Most entry-level jobs are aimed at high school or college graduates as a starting point for a future career goal. A college student may have majored in their ideal career field, but will still need to start in an entry-level position to train in a real-world environment. Some students move from internships into entry-level jobs, but most entry-level jobs do not expect a candidate to have any prior employment or on-site training.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level professional, and why are they important?

To thrive in an Entry Level position, you generally need a relevant educational background, basic industry knowledge, and a willingness to learn. Familiarity with common office software like Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and any role-specific tools is often expected. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities help you stand out and adapt quickly. These skills ensure you can contribute effectively, grow professionally, and take on increasing responsibilities within the organization.

What types of training and mentorship can I expect in an entry-level position?

In an entry-level role, employers typically offer structured onboarding programs, job shadowing opportunities, and access to experienced colleagues for ongoing support. Many companies assign a mentor or buddy to help new hires acclimate to the work environment and company culture. You can also expect periodic check-ins with your supervisor to discuss progress and address any challenges, along with opportunities to participate in workshops or training sessions to build foundational skills relevant to your department.

About Allegiant:

Allegiant Business Group is a fresh team focused on protecting working people through smart supplemental benefits. We're growing quickly and looking for motivated young adults who want to launch a real career (not just a job). If you want to earn based on results, learn marketable skills, and work with teammates who actually help each other, this is your spot.

The Opportunity:

This is an outside, territory-based sales role where you'll meet business owners and employees in person. This is an independent contractor position, so you'll have freedom over your schedule, and how you build your business in-market. You'll learn to present benefit options clearly, build long-term relationships, and guide people through their coverage choices. We'll teach you the sales playbook, you bring the hustle and curiosity.

What You'll Do

Attend company-set appointments and meet decision-makers at small and mid-size businesses.

Deliver clear, friendly benefit presentations to groups and individuals.

Help clients choose coverage and support them through follow-up and claims guidance.

Track activity, leads, and client info in our CRM (we use Salesforce).

Prospect for referrals, follow up on leads, and build your own book of business.

Work with your mentor and manager to set weekly and monthly goals.

Report activity and celebrate wins with the team.

What We'll Teach You

Hands-on field training and ride-alongs with experienced reps

Online modules for product knowledge and sales technique

Licensing support, we'll assist you in achieving your Health & Life general lines license (aim for within 90 days)

Ongoing coaching, career planning, and growth opportunities

Compensation & Perks

Commission-based pay with competitive splits and performance bonuses.

Weekly draw pay available; uncapped earnings potential.

Incentive trips, contests, and recognition for top performers.

Continued training and clear advancement pathways.

Flexible, Personal schedule that fits both your personal and professional commitments.

(As an independent contractor, traditional employee benefits are not included. We'll support you with training, tools, and a community that helps you build your business.)

You should apply if you:

Are coachable, energetic, and ready to learn on your feet.

Enjoy talking to people and building genuine connections.

Can manage your time, set priorities, and follow systems.

Want a career path (not just hourly work) and are comfortable with a results-driven pay model.

Have reliable transportation and a professional presence.

Either already hold a Life & Health license or are willing to get licensed within 90 days (we'll help).

No prior insurance experience required — we hire for attitude and train for skill.
