As a(n) Software Engineer within PNC's Site Reliability Technology Engineering organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA.
As a Software Engineer at PNC, you will support monitoring and reliability of PNC's enterprise technology platforms. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience with system operations and observability tools within a production environment.
Responsibilities
Monitor system health, performance, and availability using monitoring and observability tools (logs, metrics, dashboards)
Respond to alerts and perform basic troubleshooting of infrastructure, applications, and servers
Support incident management, escalation, and root cause identification
Execute routine operational tasks, system checks, and production support activities
Document incidents, resolutions, and operational procedures (runbooks)
Collaborate with Engineering and SRC teams to improve system reliability
Qualifications
Basic knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server administration
Foundational troubleshooting skills (logs, system performance)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to learn quickly in production operations / support environment
Preferred
Exposure to observability / monitoring tools (Elastic, Dynatrace)
Basic Python or scripting experience (automation, scripting)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
Understanding of incident management, SRE, or IT operations concepts
