The RN will provide ongoing nursing oversight, staff training, and medication management support for a client with specialized medical needs. This is a 1099 independent contractor position with a flexible schedule and approximately 1 hour per week of scheduled nursing support, with additional hours as needed for follow-up, physician appointments, or training updates.
Responsibilities

  • Educate staff on insulin administration procedures and following prescribed sliding scale protocols.
  • Provide training on seizure recognition, response, and documentation.
  • Train staff on recognizing signs and symptoms of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and appropriate reporting procedures.
  • Conduct routine check-ins with both staff and client to ensure medical care plans are being followed.
  • Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) and other medication documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Follow up after physician appointments to ensure all medication changes are accurately documented and communicated.
  • Coordinate with physicians and pharmacies to ensure prescriptions are sent to the correct pharmacy and medications are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff regarding the client’s medical needs.
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation and communicate any concerns to management.
Qualifications

  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience (preferred).
  • Experience with diabetes management, insulin administration, seizure disorders, and medication management.
  • Strong teaching and coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
Schedule

  • Initial onboarding/training: Approximately 2 hours.
  • Ongoing schedule: Approximately 1 hour per week, with flexibility for additional time as needed for physician follow-up, staff retraining, or changes in medical condition.
