Job description

Responsibilities:  

  • Providing multifaceted subject matter support in regulatory compliance processes of NEPA, Clean Water Act Endangered Species Act, and other federal, state, and local environmental regulations. 

  • Assisting in the preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents including Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements for transportation or other infrastructure (water, wastewater, etc.) projects in accordance with Texas Department of Transportation or other state/federal agency standards. 

  • Performing/supporting environmental technical studies and report preparation, as appropriate. 

  • Assisting in public and agency outreach. 

  • Working with an interdisciplinary team of technical specialists 

  • Assisting with proposals and business development 

  • Stays up to date on regulatory changes and establish working relationships with regulatory officials 

  • Participate in client functions, trade shows and conferences 

  • Conduct and support environmental site assessments (Phase I/II ESA studies, TxDOT ISAs, etc.) 

  • Support and assist water resources and wetland delineations, biological habitat assessments and other support fieldwork activities 

 Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in biological sciences, environmental sciences, transportation planning, environmental planning, geography, GIS or similar discipline/closely related field 

  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project 

  • Candidate must provide research and writing examples, as applicable 

 Preferred Additional Qualifications 

  • 1-3 years of related consulting or agency experience preferred 

  • Competence with ArcGIS and Python programming language 

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with the project team and clients 

  • Valid driver's license is required
