Temporary Waterfowl Biologist Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Under close supervision of the Wildlife Habitat Supervisor II, the incumbent will work in hunter check stations and perform the duties below. May also be under the lead of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).

• Assist in processing hunters at waterfowl hunter check stations.
• Clean and maintain check station building and immediate outside area.
• Answer public inquiries relating to procedures and regulations.
• Identify and record type of game harvested, and if needed, take samples and measurements to be submitted for biological studies.
• Maintain accurate and legible records on appropriate forms and compile reports related to hunter and harvest data.

The Fish and Wildlife Seasonal Aid classification is a non-testing classification.
• Applicants who receive public assistance under the CalWORKs program shall be given hiring priority consideration as provided in Government Code, Section 19063.
• Applicants who receive public assistance need to identify themselves as CalWORKs recipients in the comments section of the STD 678, Examination/Employment Application.
• Applicants must submit verification of CalWORKs eligibility, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) eligibility or a copy of the most recent aid check stub.
• Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program. If CalWORKs verification is not submitted with the application, it will not be processed as CalWORKs eligible.
• Participation by a public assistance recipient is voluntary and in no event shall any person be subject to sanctions, through loss of benefits or eligibility, for not applying for, accepting, or continuing in a seasonal or entry level non-testing classification opening.

Working Conditions
This position will be required to work outdoors in all types of weather (hot, cold, and wet), work weekends, holidays and odd hours, and handle game birds. This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform identifying the employee as CDFW staff on certain occasions. Must possess and maintain a current valid Driver's License for the operation of vehicles.
The incumbent will report to the hunter check stations in Butte, Colusa, Glenn and/or Sutter Counties.

• This position requires possession of a valid Driver's License. The selected candidate will be required to provide a photocopy (front and back) of the license: Name as stated on the license, issuing state, DL #, Class, expiration.
• Physical strength and agility; ability to lift 40 pounds; ability to swim 50 yards and stay afloat at least five (5) minutes.
