What is the difference between Entry Level Welding Side vs Entry Level Pipe Welder?

AspectEntry Level Welding SideEntry Level Pipe Welder

Work EnvironmentGeneral fabrication shops, construction sitesPipe fabrication, oil & gas, plumbing projects
Industry UsageWelding across various industriesSpecialized in pipe welding within construction and energy sectors

The choice depends on your interest in general metalwork versus pipe-specific projects within the industry.

Can I get a job as a welder with no experience?

Entry-level welding jobs often do not require prior experience, but employers typically look for basic skills, a high school diploma or equivalent, and sometimes certification in welding techniques. Gaining hands-on training through vocational programs or apprenticeships can improve chances of employment and help develop necessary skills with tools like MIG or TIG welders.

What are good welding side hustles?

Entry level welders can pursue side hustles such as custom metal fabrication, repairing or restoring equipment, or creating art and decorative pieces. These tasks often require basic welding skills, a portable welder, and safety equipment, and can be done on flexible schedules outside of full-time employment.

Why do welders age so fast?

Welders, including those in entry-level positions, often age faster due to exposure to intense heat, ultraviolet radiation, and fumes from welding processes. Repeated exposure to these hazards can accelerate skin aging, cause respiratory issues, and lead to other health problems if proper protective equipment and safety protocols are not followed.
