Overview: The Commercial Assembly Trainee is an entry level/trainee position. As a "Trainee" you will work under complete supervision. Provide assistance, learn to read and interpret manufacturing drawings (customer drawings/blue prints), learn to assemble fabricated parts, fittings, and/or subassemblies on parts using layout tools, hand tools, power tools, or fasteners, such as bolts, screws, rivets, rivnuts, helicoils, or clamps, commercial client specifications, the importance of safety awareness; as well as, company policies and expectations.  


Key Responsibilities: (include but not limited to): Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

  • Learn the use of safe working habits and clean work area (6S)
  • Adhere and promote Athena Manufacturing Code of Values. 
  • Learn and Identify Safety Hazards.
  • Learn job skills, company policies and processes to do routine tasks.
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Check equipment for proper operation, safety and or needed maintenance.
  • Fit and fasten sheet metal coverings to surface areas or other sections.
  • Operate cutting equipment.
  • Cut industrial materials in preparation for fabrication or processing.
  • Align parts or work pieces to ensure proper assembly
  • Rotate through all the tasks required in a particular production process.
  • Clean work pieces or finished products
  • Perform other jobs or functions assigned by manager/supervisor.


Requirements:

Qualifications: Minimum Preferred Qualifications, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, and 
  • a minimum of (2) years of consistent working experience. Related experience a plus.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential physical requirements pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

  • Strength — (Very Heavy) Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Heavy Work.
  • Movement- climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling
  • Auditory- talking and hearing
  • Vision-near acuity, far acuity, depth perception
  • Environment conditions and physical surroundings-noise, vibration, atmospheric conditions


PREFERRED TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY:

  • Personal computers
  • Comfortable with Technology, open to learning/coachable
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Warehouse and inventory systems (Made2Mange:M2M and SFM)
  • Drills, Grinders, Wrenches, etc.


REQUIRED WORK CLOTHING AND PPE: 

  • Attire should not interfere with job performance or safety.
  • Safety glasses are provided by Athena
  • Closed toe safety shoes are required
