Job Overview:

FOCUSPOINT is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Hospital Supply Chain Manager for one of our hospital clients located in southern California. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our supply chain operations, ensuring efficient procurement, logistics, and inventory management. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in process improvement and the ability to implement best practices across the supply chain.

Location: Position is located in southern California.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages the people, process, and operations of the hospital for assigned departments of responsibility and inventories, including but not limited to central supply inventory, operating room inventory, Cath lab inventory, and Special Procedures areas. Additional responsibilities include managing Storekeepers, Central Service Techs, Inventory and Material Coordinators, and the Mailroom.
  • Establishes, maintains, recommends, and implements improvements for the hospital in inventory control processes, including daily cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts. Adjusts inventory levels as appropriate, balancing the need to minimize inventory on hand while ensuring there are no stockouts.
  • Researches and resolves hospital inventory variances, discrepancies, and adjustments in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes Meditech Materials Management application and other department-specific software systems at the Super User level. Assists in recommending, selecting, implementing, and testing new or upgraded software. Ensures systems are being used to their fullest functionality and efficiency.
  • Leads improvement initiatives for responsible areas in the hospital.
  • Through daily, short huddles, meets with staff to proactively ensure there are no supply shortages or other operational issues within the hospital, and resolves issues in a timely manner.
  • Conducts regular rounds of the supply stocking locations with the Hospital Supply Chain Supervisor. Provides recommendations to improve deficiencies, offers training to staff members, reviews PAR reports, and makes recommendations for revisions in collaboration with the department manager on a quarterly basis or as needed.
  • In close collaboration with the supervisor and leads, oversees supply service levels to all departments.
  • In collaboration with the supervisor, establishes and manages staff schedules and time card processing.
  • Reviews and prepares monthly budget variance analysis and provides business justification for variances.
  • Interviews and evaluates staff.
  • Works with all stakeholders to resolve problems, concerns, and questions in a timely manner and provides follow-up as necessary to ensure the sustainment of a resolved problem.
  • Provides timely customer service and responses to all stakeholders, creates an environment that encourages staff to work together as a team.

Requirments:

  • Bachelors’ degree with course work in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Certified Materials Resource Professional (CMRP) is preferred.
  • LEAN certification; or completion of some LEAN classes is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of leadership and management theories, principles, practices, techniques and methods.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with staff at various levels. Must be able to facilitate meetings and lead in a team environment.
  • Effectively uses enthusiasm and appropriate techniques to motivate associates to work towards departmental goals and objectives.
  • Ability to analyze cost benefits, opportunities and risk associated with each solution.
  • Must be able to lift, push and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Knowledgeable of medical products, medical devices, and physician preference items (PPI). Proven ability to successfully provide project management skills for tracking, monitoring, measuring and sustaining supply chain initiatives.
  • Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
