Job Summary
The Teaching & Learning Associate supports the day-to-day work of the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL) by assisting with instructional technologies, resource development, and faculty development initiatives. This entry-level role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, creativity, and education.
The Associate contributes to a wide range of CETL activities, including supporting learning management systems, creating multimedia resources, and assisting with events and programs. This position is designed as a growth opportunity for individuals interested in developing skills in instructional design, digital learning, and faculty support in higher education.
Responsibilities
Instructional Technology & LMS Support
  • Provide first-line support to faculty and students using instructional technologies (e.g., D2L Brightspace and supported tools)
  • Assist with course setup, content organization, and basic troubleshooting within the LMS
  • Help identify and resolve common user issues; escalate more complex problems as needed
  • Support faculty in navigating and using digital tools for teaching and learning

Multimedia & Resource Development
  • Create and edit instructional resources, including short videos, walkthroughs, job aids, and guides
  • Assist with basic video/audio recording, editing, and captioning
  • Support development of CETL communications and materials (e.g., newsletters, web content, promotional materials)
  • Apply institutional branding and accessibility best practices (e.g., WCAG 2.1)

Events & Program Support
  • Assist with planning and execution of CETL events, including workshops, faculty academies, and campus initiatives
  • Support logistics such as registration, communication, materials preparation, and on-site or virtual facilitation
  • Help manage CETL calendars, scheduling, and coordination across programs
  • Capture and share event highlights (e.g., photos, summaries, resource follow-ups)

Operational & Administrative Support
  • Assist with maintaining CETL digital spaces (e.g., LMS shells, SharePoint, website updates)
  • Support tracking of participation, feedback, and basic reporting for CETL initiatives
  • Contribute to project coordination across CETL activities
  • Perform general administrative tasks that support the effective operation of CETL

Professional Growth & Development
  • Participate in training and mentorship related to instructional design, learning science, and educational technology
  • Develop foundational skills in course design, multimedia development, and facilitation
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with a pathway toward instructional design or related roles

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Communications, Media, human Resources, Business, English, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience using digital tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Canva, video editing tools, or similar)
  • Basic familiarity with learning platforms or online tools (e.g., LMS experience as a student or user)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
