How do I get into UX design with no experience?

Entry-level UX designers can start by building a portfolio through personal projects, volunteering, or redesigns of existing apps and websites. Learning core skills such as user research, wireframing, and prototyping with tools like Figma or Adobe XD, along with online courses or certifications, can help demonstrate competence to employers.

What types of projects do entry level UX designers typically work on, and how much creative input can they expect to have?

Entry level UX designers often start by working on smaller features within larger projects, such as refining user flows, creating wireframes, or conducting usability tests under the guidance of senior team members. While initial creative input may be somewhat limited, many organizations encourage junior designers to share ideas during team meetings and design critiques. As you demonstrate your skills and initiative, you'll likely gain more ownership over specific components or even lead small projects. Collaboration with UI designers, developers, and product managers is a regular part of the role, providing valuable exposure to different aspects of the design process.
