TITLE: Web Programmer & UX Designer


REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing & Communications



SUMMARY

Develops, designs, and maintains the College website and digital user experience. This position blends frontend programming, UX/UI design, and visual web design/graphics creation to produce modern, accessible, mobileoptimized digital experiences. Ensures consistent brand application across web templates, page layouts, design elements, and interactive components. Combines technical development, visual design, accessibility compliance, SEO, and analyticsdriven optimization to support enrollment, recruitment, and student success.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Development & Maintenance

  • Build and maintain website pages, components, forms, templates and interactive elements using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and CMS.
  • Improve site performance, mobile responsiveness, and crossbrowser reliability.

UX, UI & Web Design

  • Design visually appealing, brandconsistent web layouts, page templates, graphics, icons, and interface components for use across the College website.
  • Translate brand guidelines, campaign concepts, and creative direction into functional, userfriendly page designs.
  • Lead UX enhancements including navigation, information architecture, usability testing, wireframes, prototypes, and user flows.
  • Apply usercentered design principles to support the student journey from exploration to enrollment.

Graphics & Visual Digital Assets

  • Collaborate with the Graphics & Design Specialist to adapt campaign assets for web use and maintain visual consistency across digital channels.
  • Create and optimize webready graphics, hero images, banners, icons, infographics, and visual elements that enhance page clarity and engagement.
  • Ensure images and digital assets follow accessibility and performance best practices (compression, alt text, scaling).

Accessibility & SEO

  • Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility (alt text, semantic structure, ARIA labels, color contrast).
  • Implement SEO best practices and schema; partner with Director on campaign landing pages and conversion tracking.

Analytics, Optimization & Testing

  • Configure and maintain analytics tools (GA4, Tag Manager, heatmaps).
  • Conduct datadriven UX refinements, A/B testing, and landingpage optimizations.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve site performance and conversion rates.

Governance & Training

  • Train and support content editors on CMS standards, design coherence, accessibility, and web best practices.
  • Maintain web governance documentation, brandaligned templates, and publishing standards.

Other

  • Coordinate web integrations (CRM forms, event calendars, applications, chatbots) in collaboration with IT and Enrollment Management.
  • Perform other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors in Web Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, UX/UI, Digital Media, or related field required; experience in highered/public sector preferred.
  • 2+ years in frontend development, UX/UI, or CMS administration.
  • Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, accessibility, common CMS (Cascade, OmniCMS, Drupal, WordPress, etc.), and design tools (Adobe XD, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, etc.); GA4/Tag Manager experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong web standards, responsive design, and accessibility knowledge.
  • UX methods (personas, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, testing).
  • Analytical mindset; ability to turn data into UX improvements.
  • Collaboration with nontechnical stakeholders; clear documentation.
