Job description

​Clerical Temporary​ - Nurse Anesthesia

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced​Clerical Temporary​ - Nurse Anesthesiaat its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Typing: Perform typing in support of an assigned academic or administrative unit. Type grant proposals, abstracts, manuscripts, course materials, correspondence, and University forms. Compose straightforward correspondence from specific instructions.

Reporting: Maintain, modify, and update records for assigned area. Generate reports and spreadsheets with the use of appropriate software. Compile and calculate data concerning unit activities and personnel.

Scheduling: Schedule appointments and meetings, take messages and reserve rooms for faculty and staff. Make travel arrangements and provide itinerary for clients, guests, and visitors.

HR Forms and Processing: Prepare and process nonacademic and selected academic personnel paperwork. Review paperwork and forms for accuracy and completeness. Enter information in University human resources systems.

Financial Forms and Processing: Prepare and process billings, track requisitions and receive and post payments. Perform basic bookkeeping duties using University financial accounting and billing systems.

Office Coordination: Organize and monitor flow of proposals, correspondence, applications, and manuscripts through assigned office. May distribute and review work of other clerical staff.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Unique duties:

Qualifications:

Education High school completion (or GED)

Experience Entry level (less that a year of job-related experience)

Minimum one (1) year of general office, clerical or secretarial experience, including experience operating standard office equipment (FAX, copier, personal computer, electronic calendar) and using software for data entry, storage, retrieval, and reporting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Typing Skills: Ability to type with speed and accuracy (40 wpm). Ability to take notes and convert information to manuscript format (transcription skills).

Communications Skills: Good command of the English language (both oral and written). Ability to understand and provide instructions and to communicate effectively with customers.

Computer Skills: Can create and modify reports and spreadsheets by using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or other appropriate software.

Data Analysis Skills: Ability to enter and verify data for accuracy and speed. Ability to perform basic bookkeeping duties.

Organizing Skills: Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Ability to prioritize office workload and work cooperatively with others. Strong time management skills.
