Entry Level Unified Communications Engineer Jobs in Florida

The Unified Communications Engineer is responsible for the administration, support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of enterprise voice, video, and collaboration technologies within a highly available healthcare environment. This role serves as a technical resource for unified communications infrastructure, ensuring reliable 24x7x365 operations while supporting strategic projects, system upgrades, and ongoing operational needs. The engineer works closely with infrastructure, networking, clinical, and business teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient communication solutions that support patient care and organizational objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administer, maintain, and support Cisco Unified Communications environments including:Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
• Cisco Unity Connection (CUC)
• Cisco IM & Presence (IM&P)
• Cisco IP Phones
• Video collaboration endpoints
• Jabber and related soft-client technologies
• Contact Center solutions
• Monitor voice and collaboration systems to ensure optimal performance, availability, security, and service quality within a 24x7 healthcare environment.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and develop scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective communication solutions.
• Design, document, test, implement, and maintain voice and video communication systems following industry best practices and organizational standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex voice, video, and collaboration issues, coordinating with vendors and cross-functional technical teams as needed.
• Participate in infrastructure upgrades, technology refreshes, migrations, and implementation projects with minimal disruption to users and patient care operations.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, operational procedures, configuration standards, test plans, and disaster recovery processes.
• Ensure systems remain current through software updates, patching, lifecycle management, warranty tracking, and security best practices.
• Implement and manage proactive monitoring, alerting, and performance benchmarking solutions to identify and address issues before service impacts occur.
• Support project planning, task tracking, milestone achievement, and stakeholder communications throughout project lifecycles.
• Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for critical production incidents and planned maintenance activities.
• Provide excellent customer service through timely communication, issue resolution, and collaboration with operational and clinical stakeholders.
• Provide weekly status reports as directed by client and iMethods leadership.
• Related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field preferred. Relevant certifications may substitute for degree requirements.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting enterprise voice and unified communications systems in a large-scale environment.
• Hands-on experience deploying, administering, and supporting:Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)
• Cisco Unity Connection (CUC)
• Cisco IM & Presence (IM&P)
• Cisco IP telephony solutions
• Video collaboration technologies
• Contact Center platforms
• Strong troubleshooting and support experience within IP-based voice and collaboration environments.
• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and system configurations.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Collaboration certification required within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
• Ability to participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation and support critical production environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in a technology-related field.
• Experience supporting healthcare organizations, hospitals, or integrated health systems.
• Knowledge of LAN, WLAN, WAN, routing, switching, and general IP networking principles.
• Experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise voice, video, conferencing, and collaboration platforms.
• Strong understanding of voice technologies, telephony protocols, SIP, call routing, and unified communications architecture.
• Experience with proactive system monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and operational reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to develop test plans, implementation procedures, and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Experience participating in business continuity and disaster recovery planning initiatives.
• Advanced Cisco certifications such as CCNP Collaboration or equivalent UC-focused certifications.
• Strong communication, organization, project coordination, customer service, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
