About the Role

As part of a growing team, you will bring a positive attitude and energy to our team. The primary duties are ensuring we are providing excellent service, product knowledge, and presenting the best possible coverage options to our new and existing clients.


The Underwriter applies and interprets underwriting guidelines & rating rules in the evaluation and pricing of a commercial insurance risk. This role is responsible for providing ongoing service and account maintenance for multiple programs and/or products.


The Day-to-Day

  • Applies and interprets underwriting guidelines & rating rules in the evaluation and pricing of a risk with limited supervision.
  • Contributes to the profitability of the business through the underwriting of new and renewal applications.
  • Determines appropriate coverages and rates and prepares quote documents.
  • Makes logical and precise recommendations to the carrier when required.
  • Provides ongoing service and account maintenance for multiple programs and/or products.
  • Assists with projects as needed.
  • Ensures that all regulatory, compliance and transparency requirements are met and complies with all internal policies and procedures.
  • Manages workload within established service levels and/or production requirements.
  • Handles less complex accounts typically for one P&C program.
  • Has limited underwriting authority and works within pre-stated rating structures as defined by the carrier.
Requirements:


  • Insurance Industry experience preferred
  • High School Diploma
  • Must be Property and Casualty Licensed or pass licensing test within 1 year
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word
  • Ability to work well in team-based environment with a positive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
