Job description

GARNEY

Garney is seeking a Survey Technician in Nashville, TN. This role will be vital to the success of construction and marine-based projects by performing surveying tasks with precision and professionalism. You will be responsible for interpreting construction documents, executing accurate layouts, and maintaining thorough records, including “as-built” documentation. Working closely with the project team, subcontractors, and vendors, you will help ensure project specifications are met both on land and underwater. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in surveying with opportunities to grow through mentorship and field training.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Promote and enforce jobsite safety standards for all personnel.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date “as-built” drawings in compliance with project specifications
  • Perform construction layout tasks using GPS, Total Stations, Auto Levels, and other surveying tools
  • Conduct bathymetric sonar surveys to support marine and underwater construction activities
  • Coordinate and assist with subcontractor surveying work; monitor for compliance with project requirements
  • Support field crews and provide mentorship as appropriate; assist senior surveyors as needed
  • Assist in maintaining survey equipment, bathymetric tools, and small marine vessels
  • Perform data acquisition and processing using software such as Hypack and CAD
  • Participate in seamanship duties such as line handling, operating small boats, and radio watch
