Overview

Salary Range $19.00 Hourly Position Type Full-Time/Part-Time Job Shift Any

Description

As an Unarmed Security Guard, you will be responsible for providing a visible security presence and maintaining a safe and secure environment within a government, corporate, retail, or commercial setting. This role requires professionalism, strong situational awareness, and excellent customer service skills.

Primary responsibilities include conducting foot patrols, monitoring surveillance and alarm systems, controlling access and egress, observing and reporting suspicious activity, and responding appropriately to safety or security concerns. Officers are expected to complete accurate reports and maintain detailed logs in accordance with post orders and company policy.

In addition to physical security duties, this position actively supports SSC's G.E.T. Principles — Greet, Engage, and Thank, ensuring a positive experience for customers, visitors, associates, and employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine and random security patrols on foot or by vehicle, as assigned
  • Observe, report, and deter theft, misconduct, and suspicious behavior
  • Monitor CCTV, alarms, and access control systems
  • Control entry and exit points and verify authorized access
  • Identify and address safety hazards or irregular conditions
  • Respond to incidents and emergencies; notify law enforcement or emergency services as required
  • Assist with basic first aid and emergency notifications
  • Prepare detailed written reports on incidents, accidents, and suspicious activity
  • Serve as a liaison with local law enforcement when necessary
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and orderly post area at all times
Customer Service & Engagement (G.E.T. Principles)
  • Greet and welcome customers, guests, tenants, and associates in a professional and courteous manner
  • Engage proactively with individuals to provide assistance, information, or direction
  • Thank individuals for patronizing the location and promote a positive environment
  • Anticipate and respond to customer questions regarding the site, surrounding area, and available services
  • Assist with guest services such as directions, transportation guidance, and area attractions
  • Troubleshoot customer concerns and escalate issues to management when appropriate
Qualifications Education & Licensing
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a State Unarmed Security Guard License, if required by state or local law
  • Must pass applicable state licensing tests if operating a company-owned or client-provided vehicle
Experience
  • Verifiable work history required
  • One (1) year of security experience
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow post orders and company procedures
  • Proficient basic computer skills (e.g., report writing, Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to assess situations quickly and make sound decisions
  • High attention to detail and strong observational skills
