Summary of Duties: Under the immediate supervision of a Parks Supervisor, Foreman or a Crew leader performs skilled and semi-skilled work related to maintenance and renovation of parks and recreation facilities, grounds, pathways, and landscape.

Emergency Response Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situations and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform duties in support of development and maintenance of parks, pools, grounds, restrooms and sport fields e.g., mowing, edging, fertilizing, seeding, pruning, planting, and/ or removing weeds, trees and shrubs, clearing right-of-way areas and drainage with appropriate equipment.
• Paint, repair and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment and other miscellaneous items as needed.
• Gather and dispose of debris, wood, trash, limbs, weeds, grass, trees, shrubs, plants and dead animals.
• Operate and maintain lawn mowers, sod cutters, chainsaws, tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, forklifts, and other various hand and job-related power tools.
• Participates in emergency response teams.
• Safety sensitive position subject to the Random Drug Screen Policy.
• Must meet and maintain the requirements of the Driver Safety Policy.
• Employee may be required to work special events on nights, weekends or holidays.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities for Facilities: 

• Handle general repairs by addressing issues such as plumbing leaks, electrical malfunctions, HVAC problem and structural repairs.
• Conduct troubleshooting, diagnose problems, and identify the root causes of equipment or system failures, and develop appropriate solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and equipment servicing. Keep track of maintenance schedules and update relevant documentation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand, walk, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee will frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to climb or balance and stoop or kneel. The employee is rarely required to sit, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and the risk of electrical shock. The employee is rarely exposed to high, precarious places; extreme cold; and explosives.

Disagreeable: Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. The majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk and frequent physical effort is required.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Experience: Operate and maintain lawn mowers, lawn edgers, brush/tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, vehicles up to 26000 GVWR, various hand and job-related power tools. Entry level knowledge of construction, carpentry work, and landscape installation/maintenance.

Licenses and Certifications:  Must have a valid driver's license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.

Pre-employment Requirements: Pass pre-employment drug screening, pass background check, and eligible status on Motor Vehicle Report.
