Job Summary/Description:
WCTV, the dominant #1 CBS affiliate in Tallahassee, is looking for our next newscast and streaming producer. Our producers go beyond simply stacking a show. To qualify, you must demonstrate that you possess foundational skills and can creatively craft a rundown.
The producer works closely with news managers and anchors to craft our newscasts, which emphasize local content.
Duties/Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to:
- Participating in daily editorial meetings and evaluating pitches for potential lead stories
- Ordering stories in the rundown with emphasis on happening now, local and live elements
- Collaborating with reporters and anchors on story concepts
- Selecting showcase elements which could include maps, graphics and video
- Writing scripts with focus on accuracy and deliverability
- Making graphics and lower thirds for stories (and keeping them free of typos)
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 2 years of producing experience in a commercial newsroom is preferred, but entry-level candidates with internship experience or a degree in journalism will be considered
- Knowledge of video editing and scripting software
- Working knowledge of web and social platforms
- Ability to travel regionally and nationally
