Company Overview

Guntherโ€™s Building Center Ltd. is a leading supplier and distributor of interior finishing products serving Calgary and surrounding areas for over 70 years. We specialize in residential and commercial interior finishing products including doors, hardware, millwork, and hollow metal doors and frames. We are currently seeking a full-time Entry-Level Welder to join our growing fabrication team.

Position Description

Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Entry-Level Welder will assist with the fabrication, modification, repair, and preparation of hollow metal doors and frames and other related steel products. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced welders while further developing their welding and fabrication skills in a safe and productive environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on steel components and assemblies
  • Fabricate, modify, and repair hollow metal doors and frames
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, work orders, and specifications
  • Measure, cut, grind, fit, and prepare materials for welding
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials within the facility
  • Follow company safety procedures and all applicable regulations
  • Work collaboratively with shop, warehouse, and installation teams

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of welding or metal fabrication experience required
  • Experience with MIG welding required
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic calculations
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, or fabrication is considered an asset
  • Forklift experience is considered an asset
