Job Overview
The primary role of the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is to engage in meaningful peerโtoโpeer scientific dialogue with healthcare system leaders such as Regional Thought Leaders (RTLs), National Thought Leaders, and Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) within a defined geography to translate science into patient care. The MSL captures medical insights and acts as a clinical and scientific advisor to crossโfunctional partners, ensuring interactions align with enterprise and medical strategies and that patients have access to BMS medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop trusted relationships with academic and community Thought Leaders (TLs) in Oncology through highโquality peerโtoโpeer scientific dialogue using 1:1 meetings, group presentations, and virtual interactions.
- Collaborate and engage in scientific dialogue with TLs to gain insights on the clinical landscape, develop a medical plan focused on product/disease area, and translate it into effective launch.
- Engage with medical societies, patient advocacy groups, and guideline committee members as appropriate.
- Provide training for external speakers and strategically engage payers in preโ and periโlaunch phases.
- Provide medical support to address unsolicited HCP questions in realโtime, both faceโtoโface and via the Medical on Call virtual capability.
- Leverage digital capabilities to enhance medical engagement and appropriately document and achieve annual goals.
- Offer recommendations and insights to the clinical development team on study feasibility, support clinical trial investigators with evidence readโouts, and facilitate patient recruitment.
- Support interventional and nonโinterventional research studies, provide insights on site feasibility, and assist in the ISR submission and execution process.
- Ensure BMS pharmacovigilance procedures are understood, report adverse events, and support CROโsponsored studies as needed.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- MD, PharmD, PhD, APP, PA, or NP with experience relevant to a specific disease area or broad medical background.
- Experience in a scientific or clinical research environment; field medical expertise preferred.
- Deep understanding of the Thought Leader environment and needs.
Strong Oncology Experience Required
- Scientific or clinical disease area knowledge, patient treatment trends, and clinical landscape.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including compliance and regulatory guidelines.
Understanding of Scientific Publications
- Knowledge of clinical trial design and process.
- Understanding of national and regional healthcare and access environment.
Travel
- Requires a qualified driver with a valid license and a minimum age of 21; company will assess driving risk.
- MSL will spend majority of time in the field with external customers; additional travel depends on territory assignment and team needs.
