At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer II to join the Data Center Power and Control Division Team in Reno, NV. Under general direction of Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer II will plan, design, and optimize manufacturing processes. The Manufacturing Engineers are creative and analytical thinkers and designers of processes, tools, and procedures. This position will provide technical expertise to develop practical solutions for manufacture, testing, or improvement of company products and lead their implementation. The Manufacturing Engineer will ensure that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently, and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures, and goals. The Manufacturing Engineer, as with all members of the Legrand Team, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality.

What Will You Do?

  • Coordinate and execute new product introduction initiatives throughout Operations both at the contract manufacturer and production environment.
  • Create, update, and enhance manufacturing processes and documentation.
  • Resolve Bill of Materials and routing errors in Company ERP system.
  • Address daily production issues and work cross-functionally to recommend short- and long-term solutions.
  • Execute manufacturing engineering assignments that involve advanced analysis.
  • Perform various manufacturing engineering projects.
  • Determine and establish labor and assembly time standards.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives to drive product, process, cost, quality, and delivery improvements.
  • Provide production support at contract manufacturing sites and Company production department.
  • Influence change to products through the application of Design for Manufacturability.
  • Develop robust manufacturing engineering solutions and techniques which meet design specifications.
  • Advocate the application and implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend new manufacturing technology.
  • Assist in capital expenditure proposals (project definition, quotes, procurement, coordination, and implementation).
  • Drive companywide process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop tooling and fixtures for manufacturing process.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Train and develop entry level manufacturing engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • 2 years related experience, preferably in similar industry.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Previous 2D and 3D CAD Design experience.
  • Ability to coordinate engineering projects and demonstrate engineering technical expertise to a team.
  • Strong knowledge of product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to successfully lead a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate multiple priorities to deadlines.
  • Project management and self-management skills including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/ Project).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization/planning skills and the ability to work independently.
  • This position will require up to 75% travel for the first 4 months and up to 25% thereafter. Applicant must have or be able to obtain permission to travel to the USA and Mexico.
  • Familiarity of ISO 9000 standards and audit process.
