Job description

Automotive Service Technician ApprenticeCollision Repair - Mechanical, Diagnostic & Inspection

***ENTRY LEVEL POSITION***

We are looking for Automotive Service Technician Apprentice (310S) to join our collision repair team.

This is a unique opportunity for an apprentice who wants to develop their mechanical, EV repair and diagnostic skills in a collision-focused repair environment. Rather than performing routine maintenance and general service work all day, this position focuses on inspecting, diagnosing, removing, replacing, and verifying mechanical components affected by vehicle collisions.

You will work alongside experienced collision technicians on EV and ICE vehicles.

Requirements

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing mechanical inspections on collision-damaged vehicles
  • Identifying damaged steering, suspension, drivetrain, cooling, HVAC, braking, and related mechanical components
  • Assisting with pre-repair and post-repair mechanical inspections
  • Removing and replacing suspension components, control arms, knuckles, wheel bearings, steering components, subframes, and related assemblies
  • Assisting with engine, transmission, drive-unit, and drivetrain removal when required for collision repairs
  • Performing wheel alignments and interpreting alignment measurements
  • Inspecting vehicles for hidden mechanical damage caused by an impact
  • Performing cooling system and A/C system repairs related to collision damage
  • Assisting with A/C recovery, vacuum and recharge procedures
  • Performing mechanical diagnostic scans and basic electrical diagnosis
  • Assisting with ADAS-related mechanical preparation and calibration procedures
  • Inspecting wiring, connectors, sensors, harnesses, grounds, and mounting locations for collision-related damage
  • Properly documenting inspection findings and additional damage
  • Completing post-repair mechanical inspections and quality-control checks
  • Road testing vehicles when appropriate
  • Maintaining an organized and professional work area
Skills That Will Set You Apart

Candidates with any of the following experience will be considered an asset:

  • Collision repair experience
  • Steering and suspension diagnosis
  • Wheel alignment experience
  • Electrical diagnosis
  • Scan-tool experience
  • ADAS systems or calibration experience
  • A/C service experience
  • EV or hybrid vehicle experience
  • Tesla or other OEM-specific training
  • Subframe, drivetrain, engine or transmission removal experience
  • Understanding of OEM repair information and service procedures
  • I-CAR training or collision-industry experience

Benefits

Skills That Will Set You Apart

Candidates with any of the following experience will be considered an asset:

  • Collision repair experience
  • Steering and suspension diagnosis
  • Wheel alignment experience
  • Electrical diagnosis
  • Scan-tool experience
  • ADAS systems or calibration experience
  • A/C service experience
  • Subframe, drivetrain, engine or transmission removal experience
  • Understanding of OEM repair information and service procedures
  • I-CAR training or collision-industry experience
This Position Is Different From a Typical Apprentice Role

This is not primarily an oil-change, tire-change, and maintenance position.

Our mechanical department supports the collision repair process.

You will learn to look at a damaged vehicle and determine not only what is broken, but why it is damaged, what other components may have been affected, and what needs to be inspected before the vehicle can safely return to the road.

You will gain exposure to:

  • Collision-related mechanical diagnosis
  • Modern steering and suspension systems
  • Vehicle electronics and networked systems
  • Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
  • EV and high-voltage vehicle technology
  • OEM repair procedures
  • Structural and mechanical relationships
  • Pre- and post-repair scanning
  • Alignment and vehicle geometry
  • Post-collision quality control
Who Will Succeed Here

We're looking for someone who is curious and wants to become a highly capable technician.

You should be the type of person who wants to understand why a vehicle pulls after an impact, why an alignment measurement is out of specification, whether a suspension component is bent, why a warning light appeared after a collision, or whether additional damage is hiding behind the obvious repair.

We can provide training and experience.

What we expect from you is effort, attention to detail, accountability, and a genuine willingness to learn.
