Main Purpose of Job
Join Us in Making a Difference at DJS!\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives, creating safer communities, and fostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for our Administrator II: Behavioral Health Coordinator role, so join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe is main purpose of this position is\r\nto provide training, monitoring and coaching for new and current staff in Behavioral\r\nHealth Treatment Interventions. This position requires the incumbent to\r\ntrain staff in DJS' treatment programs and detention facilities on DBT skills;\r\nother identified therapeutic interventions (CBT, MRT, Motivational\r\nInterviewing, etc.) and associated policies and procedures. The incumbent will\r\nprovide training that includes Entry Level Training (ELT), initial onsite\r\ntraining, in-service refresher training, and remedial training on the DBT and other\r\nBehavioral Health Related Programming. This position will provide DBT groups\r\nand other behavioral health interventions and services, if licensed, clinical\r\nservices to youth as needed.\r\n\r\n\r\nSome key responsibilities of this position may include, but not be limited, to the following:\r\n Provide onsite coaching, training and monitoring of staff delivering DBT and other treatment programs at Victor Cullen Center, Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center, Cheltenham Youth Detention Center, and other locations if requested.\r\n Provide training related to the Department's Behavioral Health Interventions at Entry Level, initial onsite, in-service, and remedial training\r\n Provide support to DBT and other Behavioral Health related groups and, if licensed, other clinical services at the Victor Cullen Center, Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center, Cheltenham Youth Detention Center, and other facilities, as needed\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. \r\nExperience: Five years of administrative staff or professional work. \r\nNotes: \r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience. \r\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience. \r\n3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. \r\n4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.\r\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\nThe\r\npreferred candidate for this position may possess any of the following\r\nqualifications:\r\n Possess a current, active provisional or\r\nindependent license or certification issued by the State of Maryland in\r\ncounseling, psychology, social work, and/or substance use disorder treatment.\r\n\r\n Two years of experience assessing and/or providing\r\ncounseling and/or group services to a population of adolescents with mental\r\nhealth and/or substance abuse disorders in the Juvenile Justice system;\r\n Two years of experience working with an adolescent\r\npopulation with mental health and/or substance abuse issues; \r\n Training in Evidence-Based Therapeutic Skills\r\nand Interventions;\r\n\r\n\r\n

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n
