We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Professional to join our team. This role is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the flow of materials and supplies required for production in a manufacturing company. This position will work closely with the production, scheduling and sales departments to ensure that the necessary materials are available to meet production schedules while minimizing costs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, AMONG OTHERS:

  • Understand the material requirements demand based on information from others
  • Place orders for raw materials as needed with the best vendor for the material
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery of quality materials at competitive prices.
  • Manage inventory levels to optimize costs and ensure continuity of supply
  • Work closely with the Sales department to prioritize and coordinate raw materials for production requirements
  • Resolve inventory discrepancies with Accounts Payable.
  • Review each requirement and consolidate purchases where possible, modify and establish order quantities based on cost, production levels and current inventory.
  • Follow appropriate reorder points and stocking levels for raw materials as well as packaging and other materials.
  • Maintain and correlate purchase order receipt packages for raw materials and other materials received
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that materials are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and are within budget


SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with internal departments and suppliers
  • Negotiation skills to secure better terms of payment and delivery
  • Understanding of purchasing dynamics
  • Attention to detail to ensure all purchase orders are accurate and complete

QUALIFICATIONS

Prefer associate’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, preferably in a manufacturing environment OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes, as well as materials management principles. Experience with ERP systems, specifically in inventory management and purchasing modules.
