Epoch Catering – Suburban Collection Showplace (Novi, MI)

Epoch Catering is seeking a dependable and hardworking Banquet Houseperson / Set-up team member to support our full-service catering operations at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. Our facility features over 400,000 square feet of versatile event space and hosts a wide variety of high-volume corporate, convention, social, and community events throughout the year.

Epoch Catering is a premier Michigan-based hospitality group known for delivering high-end culinary experiences and seamless event execution. Our team takes pride in providing exceptional service and attention to detail for events ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale conventions.

Position Overview

The Banquet Houseperson / Set-up team plays a critical role in the success of each event by ensuring that all function spaces are properly set, maintained, and reset according to detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and floor diagrams. This position involves physical labor, quick turnarounds, and frequent coordination with banquet captains, event managers, and audiovisual teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and break down banquet and meeting rooms as outlined in BEOs, including placement of tables, chairs, staging, risers, pipe and drape, partitions, and dance floors
  • Assist with room flips, resets, and lastminute configuration changes under tight deadlines
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized storage and backofhouse areas
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and fellow team members to ensure event readiness
  • Support event operations by responding to onthefly requests from banquet, AV, and facility teams
  • Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience in banquet or convention setup preferred, but not required
  • Ability to lift and maneuver items up to 75 lbs.
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods, including walking, bending, and pushing equipment
  • Strong teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on event schedule
  • Work Environment

This is a hands-on, physically active position within a fast-paced hospitality setting. Candidates must be comfortable working in a high-volume environment with frequent event turnarounds and tight timelines. A positive attitude, sense of urgency, and pride in craftsmanship are essential to success in this role.
