An Entry Level Subsea Engineer is a junior engineering role focused on the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of underwater equipment and systems used in offshore oil and gas, renewable energy, and marine industries. Responsibilities typically include assisting in subsea system development, performing inspections, analyzing data, and supporting senior engineers in project planning. This role requires a background in mechanical, electrical, or ocean engineering, along with knowledge of subsea technologies and industry standards.
To thrive as an Entry Level Subsea Engineer, you need a bachelor's degree in engineering (typically mechanical, marine, or electrical) and a strong grasp of underwater systems and hydraulics. Familiarity with CAD software, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and industry safety certifications such as BOSIET or HUET is often required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective teamwork make candidates stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are vital for ensuring the safe, efficient design, maintenance, and operation of complex subsea equipment in challenging offshore environments.
As an Entry Level Subsea Engineer, you can expect a dynamic work environment that includes both office-based design and analysis tasks as well as hands-on work offshore or at testing facilities. You’ll often be part of multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with senior engineers, project managers, and operations personnel to support subsea equipment installation and maintenance. It’s common to alternate between periods of offshore assignments and onshore project planning, which offers both exciting field experience and technical development. This blend of environments allows for rapid skill growth and offers valuable exposure to different aspects of subsea engineering projects.

Algorithm Engineer
Apogee Research is at the forefront of a revolution in how the DoD operates: a turn towards compositional systems of systems instead of traditional monolithic architectures. This change is driven by a need for faster adaptation to adversarial environments, which requires the ability to field resilient, distributed systems in days to weeks rather than months to years. To create composable systems that operate resiliently at scale in contested and resource constrained environments, we combine custom software toolchains with feedback control to dynamically adjust to ever changing environments.
We currently have openings for algorithm engineers to design, implement, and validate new algorithms across multiple domains including networking, distributed data fusion and resource management, distributed electronic warfare, and distributed Command and Control (C2). Understanding of probability and statistics is required, experience with control systems is desired. Demonstrated understanding of how to characterize the open-loop and close-loop stability of nonlinear systems via analysis, simulation, and experimentation is a strong plus.
Qualified candidates should have a mix of academic theory and real-world applications of relevant algorithms, combined with a track record of applying research techniques to real-world problems. This is not an entry level position and real-world experience is required. While this role is not primarily a software development role, some software development experience is strongly preferred.
The position is located in our Arlington, VA office. Existing DoD Top Secret clearance is strongly preferred, otherwise all candidates must be eligible to obtain one and therefore all candidates must be a US citizen to apply.
