Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components and deck packages
  • Developing a working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations
  • Aligning parts in relation to each other using jacks, clips and wedges through use of blueprints and templates
  • Tack-welding structural parts as required
  • Utilizing hands and power tools in the steel fabrication trade
  • Ability to read and interpret written policies, procedures and guidelines as work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures
  • Basic Mathematic ability

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.
Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent OR 2 plus years of related technical experience
  • Available to work all shifts
  • Ability to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions
  • Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools

Preferred:
  • Steel fabrication or carpentry experience
  • Experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
  • Military/Navy experience
