Entry Level Stylists are typically new professionals with a cosmetology license working in salons or spas, focusing on basic styling and customer service. Cosmetologists are licensed professionals offering a broader range of beauty services, including cutting, coloring, and skincare. While all Entry Level Stylists are cosmetologists, not all cosmetologists are at the entry level. The main difference lies in experience and scope of services offered.

Can you work in a salon with no experience as an entry level stylist?

Entry level stylists can often find positions in salons without prior experience, as salons typically provide on-the-job training and require licensing or certification. Developing skills in customer service, hair cutting, and styling is important, and new stylists usually start under supervision before working independently.

How to get into entry level stylist with no experience?

To become an entry-level stylist with no experience, focus on completing cosmetology school and obtaining the required state license. Gaining hands-on experience through internships or assistant roles can help build skills, and strong customer service and communication abilities are essential for success in the field.

How to get started as an entry level stylist?

To start as an entry level stylist, obtain a state cosmetology license by completing required training and exams. Gain experience through apprenticeships or assistant roles in salons, develop skills in cutting, coloring, and styling, and build a portfolio to showcase your work. Entry-level stylists often work flexible hours and must stay updated on current trends and techniques.

Is it hard to get a job as an entry level stylist?

Securing an entry level stylist position can be competitive, but it often depends on the individual's training, certifications, and ability to build a client base. Many salons prefer candidates with basic cosmetology licenses and good interpersonal skills, and starting with internships or assistant roles can improve chances of employment.

elevated, and deeply considered.

Role Overview:

We are looking for a part-time Bridal Stylist who embodies warmth, emotional awareness, and a modern sense of style. This is both a client-facing and operations-support role - ideal for someone who thrives in a boutique environment, can multitask gracefully, and feels confident guiding brides through one of the most memorable decisions of their lives.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-touch, design-forward environment and can move confidently between front-of-house styling and back-of-house studio support. You will serve as a hybrid team member supporting:

  1. Bridal styling appointments
  2. Client experience
  3. Sample management
  4. Order and back-office support
  5. Daily studio operations

This is not an entry-level internship role - weโ€™re seeking someone who can ramp quickly with prior retail, fashion, or bridal experience (2 yrs preferred).

Sales & Bride Experience

  1. Lead brides through the appointment process from welcome to close
  2. Pull thoughtful gown selections (max 6-7 to start)
  3. Offer styling direction + strong product knowledge
  4. Build trust and rapport through emotional intelligence
  5. Guide brides through measuring, sizing conversations, and store policies
  6. Support second-look appointments and follow-ups

Boutique Operations

  1. Opening/closing procedures
  2. Assist with order processing, client follow-ups, and documentation (Bridal Live)
  3. Receiving and checking in orders
  4. Email + phone communication (during non-appointment windows)
  5. Store upkeep (steaming, restocking beverages, maintaining the space)

Who You Are

  1. Experience in retail, service, or sales (bridal a plus, not required)
  2. Warm, articulate, and intuitive - able to read a room
  3. Loves fashion and understands the Cowboy Bride aesthetic
  4. Confident guiding clients toward decisions with ease and sensitivity
  5. Organized and proactive, especially during downtime
  6. Comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities at once
  7. Reliable, punctual, and professional

Schedule

Part-time, approx. 16-25 hours: one weekday plus Friday and Saturdays

Tuesday or Thursday (9:30 AM-6 PM)

Friday (9:30 AMโ€“6 PM)

Saturday (9:30 AMโ€“6PM)

(Final schedule to be confirmed based on candidate availability + store needs)

Why Cowboy Bride

This is an opportunity to work inside a boutique defined by:

  • Discovery-driven designer selection
  • Elevated but approachable service
  • Founder-led creative direction
  • A clientele that values taste, quality, and individuality
