Job description
Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is currently seeking an entry level Structural Building Engineer in Training (EIT/EI) to support the building design team in our Colorado Springs office. The position will focus primarily on assisting with design calculations and plan production on building projects. Other job responsibilities include structural site investigations and construction inspection. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who is eager to learn and grow as a professional while working in a spirited team environment with projects that have quick turnarounds.

Essential Job Functions:
- Operate with a high level of independence, confidence, and organization in addition to possessing a strong work ethic.
- Effective problem-solving skills and use of fundamental engineering principles.
- Demonstrate an ability to actively engage in a team environment.
- Must be willing and able to travel to project sites, as occasional travel may be necessary.
- Perform structural design engineering calculations on building components, that include but are not limited to steel beams and columns, prestressed concrete beams and slabs, concrete foundations, and retaining walls, using standard techniques, codes, and procedures with direct guidance from senior engineers.
- Assist with plan production (CAD/REVIT drawings), geometric layout and quantity development.
- Develop design alternatives or recommendations to provide well thought-out options to our clients.
- Support field investigations or assessments.
- Exercise proficient written and oral communication skills.
Required Skills:
- Inspired by and interested in structural building design.
- Working knowledge and skills in AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft Office software, and a variety of structural engineering analysis and design software.
Required Experience:
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited college or university.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
- EIT Certification (i.e., passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam) or ability to obtain EIT certificate within 12 months.
- 0-2 years of relevant structural design experience.
