The Opportunity

Waldron Engineering and Construction, Inc. is seeking an entry level Structural Engineer in our Exeter New Hampshire office who will work under the direct supervision of the Structural Department Manager.

The Structural Department specifically provides engineering services for combined heat and power plants, used by healthcare facilities, universities, military facilities and commercial electrical generation ventures.

The successful candidate will perform technical work including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as technical resource on design issues and engineering theories, concepts, principles, and processes for structural integrity and seismic strength.

  • Research, plan, and design structural solutions that often require novel concepts and approaches within a multi-discipline team to meet project expectations (technical, operational, aesthetic, construction) for a wide range of industrial facilities, often with client requirements that exceed typical code minimums.

  • Develop design concepts through to detailed design stage.

  • Design tasks involving load determination, stress analysis, structural steel design using computational software design tools and hand calculations as appropriate.

  • Development of structural design drawings and specifications.

  • Work in a team environment with mechanical, electrical and controls engineering disciplines.

  • Review shop drawings and facilitate the construction administration process.

  • Conduct on-site inspections and troubleshooting investigations, as required.

Your Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis software is required, RISA - preferred

  • Experience with Autodesk Revit and AutoCad - preferred

  • Working knowledge of MathCad, NavisWorks - preferred

  • Has successfully passed the FE exam - preferred

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Works effectively in teams
