Job Summary: Responsible for performing the basic activities and related professional services necessary in the care and handling of surgical instruments

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensures proper operation of sterilizers (Steam, Ethylene Oxide and Sterrad units prior to use on a daily basis.
  • Runs biological and chemical tests at beginning of the day shift for both SPD and the OR.  Records results in appropriate log.
  • Inspects all sterilizers for visible signs of malfunction and reports to SPD Supervisor.
  • Cleans and decontaminates all equipment and instruments using the proper tools and cleaning agents.
