Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 124-bed acute care hospital located on 23 hillside acres at 2375 E. Prater Way in Sparks, Nevada.

This Sterile Processing Tech opportunity is full time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient afternoon/evening schedule.
We are searching for a Sterile Processing Tech. You will be responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of Instrumentation, supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices. Initiates case carts for Surgical Services. Must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the hospital. Able to accept new ideas and learn position duties. Participates in the department's performance improvement activities.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Interacts professionally with patients and family.
  • Provides patient with explanations and verbal reassurance, as necessary.
  • Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain.
  • Adapts procedures to meet individual needs of infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients for treatment.
  • Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment for each individual surgical / pain procedure, or all anticipated endoscopes, instruments, supplies and equipment of each individual GI Lab procedure.
  • Accurately completes operating room counts (instruments, sponges, sharps); follows proper procedure in the event of incorrect count; reports all discrepancies to Circulating RN and surgeon and/or corrects immediately

Requirements:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as Central Service Technician.
  • Obtains national certification within 18 months of hire into the department.
