Job Summary/Description:

WAFB, located in Baton Rouge, is seeking a digital content producer to join our team.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Produce and publish daily digital content for web, app, and social platforms, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and strong storytelling.
- Write, edit, and optimize headlines, SEO metadata, and social copy to maximize reach and engagement.
- Edit video for digital platforms (clips, teases, short-form), adding basic graphics, captions, and branding as needed.
- Work with newsroom leadership, producers, and reporters to plan coverage and execute timely updates on breaking news.
- Maintain high editorial standards (AP style, grammar, verification) and uphold journalistic ethics and station guidelines.
- Manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and communicate clearly with internal teams on priorities and status.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent writing and editing skills; strong command of AP style and headline writing.
- Working knowledge of SEO best practices and social platform publishing workflows.
- Proficiency with common digital tools (CMS, social publishing, basic photo/video editing software).
- Ability to make sound editorial judgments under deadline; strong fact-checking and verification habits.
- Comfortable collaborating across teams and taking direction while also working independently.
- Flexible schedule willingness (nights/weekends/holidays as news demands).
