Job description

JOB TITLE - HYCO Operations Tech 1 - Saraland, AL - Salary range: $30.00 to $32.00 per hour
The HYCO OperationsTechnician is responsible for the over site for day-to-day operations of theplant. Ensures that all production, quality and schedules requirements are met.Creates a culture that supports the Matheson Spirit with shift employees. Leadscontinuous improvement by supporting the employee training programs. Providingclear communication with the other three shifts, Maintenance Technicians andSite Management. Ensuring a safe work environment for employees. Assist inperforming root cause analysis when issues arise and ensuring they arecorrected.
Essential Function
Understand and adhere to company safe work policies.
Follow Lone Worker Requirements.
Promote a safe work environment.
Report safety incidents and nearmisses.
Report any unsafe conditions,environmental concerns and process problems to management immediately.
Contribute to the improvement of theSafety, Health, Environment and Quality programs.
Apply the HWP process, LOTO and energyisolation procedures as required for company and contractor personnel.
Follow EMOC procedure for all changesto process and operating procedures.
Maintain site security.
Maintain site orderliness.
Perform safetyindoctrinations for contractors.
Reliability, Utilize ComputerizedMaintenance Management System to execute, document and continuously improveequipment preventative and corrective maintenance strategy.
Support Area Manager, Utilize Webbased programs (TBD) to execute, document all corrective actions issued to thesite from Audits and Incidents review (when applicable).
Collect and interpret trends inequipment condition monitoring data.
Maintain plant spares inventory andraise gaps to management attention.
Follow work instructions and annotatewith feedback.
Perform and document process andproduct analyzers calibration checks.
Set up and safely operate all toolsand equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform Shutdowns, Start-ups, and production rate changesfor plant(s) in area.
Monitor key process variables andmaintain plant(s) in efficient steady state operation.
Troubleshoot process problems toidentify equipment requiring maintenance.
Understand the cooling water treatmentchemistry and perform water treatment tasks.
Administrative and Managerial
Follow all Quality Control requirements to ensure a qualityproduct is delivered to Matheson's customers. Meet FDA requirements whereapplicable.
Follow all Environmental guidelinesand reporting requirements to ensure all applicable regulations are followed.
Document in plant logbook date andtime of all machinery start/stops, analyzer calibrations, process upsets,product losses, customer complaints, or any other major event(s).
Maintain open continuous line ofcommunication with all HYCO Managers.
Complete required SHE site and safetyequipment inspection forms.
Maintain orderly and clean work inwork shop and plant process areas.
Direct and monitor contractors.
Maintain production logs, performoperations data entry into Process Operation Record system.
Lead and participate in operations andsafety meetings.
Participate in safety committeeactivities as required - drill planning, energy isolation reviews, etc...
Complete all training activitiesaccording to schedule and meet annual performance goals.
Support entry level OperationsTechnicians through coaching and mentoring.
Check business email daily.
Interface with Customer's OperationsTeam regarding Process Operations Changes and Safety related issues.
Accept On call duty and overtime asrequired.
Effectively prioritize and help toplan all maintenance work activities and operations schedules.
Support sites outside of the home Areaas required.
Support plant andequipment commissioning activities.
Mark-up engineering drawings todocument changes or disparities.
Identify cost effective solutions,follow company purchasing procedure and spending limitations.

Qualifications
Associate's degree Required education Level: Associate degree or equivalentexperience
Work Experience
Preferred 4-6 years in an Industrial setting with increasing responsibility in aPlant Operations role
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Math - basic algebra, fractions/percentages,unit conversion.
Personal computer proficiency(Internet, Word processing, Excel spreadsheets), and other software used by thecompany.
Strong interpersonal abilities tosupport team philosophy and strategy.
Strong interpersonal abilities tosupport mentoring/coaching activities.
