Job description

Apex is hiring a Summer Environmental Intern to be based in Seattle, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for a current undergraduate student looking to gain hands-on experience in environmental consulting while working alongside a team of experienced engineers, scientists, and environmental professionals. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that support environmental compliance, sustainability, and community development throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Your Responsibilities as an Environmental Intern:

  • Assistย with environmental field sampling activities, including collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, stormwater, wastewater, and air samplesย 
  • Support environmental compliance inspections and site auditsย 
  • Support fish exclusion and salvageย 
  • Support tree and vegetation surveyย effortsย 
  • Assistย with data entry, analysis, and preparation of technical reportsย 
  • Help prepare environmental management plans related to stormwater, spill prevention, and waste management programsย 
  • Support environmental permitting and regulatory compliance effortsย 
  • Assistย project teams with environmental investigations, remediation, and restoration projectsย 
  • Conduct research on environmental regulations and best management practices (BMPs)ย 
  • Participate in safety meetings, field activities, and project planning effortsย 
  • Travel to project sites throughout Washington as neededย 
  • Represent Apex in a safe, professional, and positive mannerย 

What we're looking for:

  • Currently pursuing aย Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, Natural Resources, or a related fieldย 
  • Strong interest in environmental consulting, compliance, remediation, or sustainabilityย 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skillsย 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentย 
  • Proficiencyย with Microsoft Office Suiteย 
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sitesย 
  • Previousย coursework, field studies, research, or internship experience is a plusย
