    About the Role
    The Applications Engineer I is an entry-level technical role focused on supporting the implementation, customization, and optimization of software solutions for customers across the manufacturing industry. Working closely with experienced Applications Engineers, Software Developers, Sales Teams, and Customers, this position provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise in CAD/CAM technologies, software development, automation, and manufacturing processes.
    The successful candidate will contribute to customer success by assisting with software implementations, troubleshooting technical issues, supporting custom development projects, and delivering customer training while building a strong foundation for long-term career growth within Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence.
    What You'll Do
    • Assist with pre-sales and post-sales technical support activities.
    • Support the development, testing, and maintenance of custom software solutions, plugins, and automation tools.
    • Participate in customer requirements gathering and project planning activities.
    • Troubleshoot, test, and document software applications, configurations, and workflows.
    • Assist with the maintenance and enhancement of RADAN plugins and automation solutions.
    • Collaborate with software developers and applications engineers to deliver customer-focused solutions.
    • Create and maintain technical documentation, training materials, and implementation guides.
    • Participate in customer training sessions, software demonstrations, and implementation activities.
    • Develop expertise in CAD/CAM software, manufacturing workflows, and industry best practices.
    • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, partners, and internal teams.
    • Support software installations, upgrades, and configuration activities.
    • Travel up to 25% to customer sites, training events, and industry conferences as required.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
    • 0-2 years of software development, technical support, internship, co-op, or related experience.
    • Basic understanding of programming concepts and object-oriented development.
    • Exposure to one or more programming languages such as C#, C++, VB.NET, VBA, or similar technologies.
    • Familiarity with databases, SQL, networking fundamentals, and software troubleshooting techniques.
    • Exposure to development tools such as Visual Studio, Git, Azure DevOps, or other source control systems.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Dependable high-speed internet connection for remote work.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Exposure to CAD/CAM software applications.
    • Experience with manufacturing, fabrication, sheet metal, or production environments.
