This position supports specification management and new product launches for mattress and foundation components by developing models, assemblies, production drawings, variances, and building sequencing; conducting testing and analysis; and partnering cross-functionally to ensure specification accuracy and BOM alignment. This is a training position to expose an entry level Engineer to various aspects of NPD, and provide a career path to grow with TSI.
Salary Range: $62,000-$88,000
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Key Results Area:
  • Design & Modeling:
    • Design and develop 3D components and assemblies, create and review detailed 2D production drawings, manage engineering data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and design workflows utilizing SolidWorks PDM.
  • Development and Testing
    • Support multiple product development teams through the participation in design of components, subassemblies, and finished goods.
    • Participate in prototype builds and pilots by assisting Development Engineer and Prototype lab.
    • Assist in the testing of components and final product in multiple labs including textile, spring, burn, durability, biomechanical, and chemical.
  • Operations:
    • Drive operational excellence through process improvement, training, quality assurance, and tracking of key performance metrics.
    • Lead material, component, and product testing-including development of specialized test equipment and analytical methods-to validate product performance and meet company standards.
    • Support supplier qualification and research operations through compliance testing, equipment maintenance, shipping/receiving, 6S activities, and general lab support.
  • Communications:
    • Collaborate across functions to support specification management, system transitions (Dynamics AX 2012 and PDM), and administrative activities that enable efficient product development and on-time project delivery.

  • Strong analytical abilities, adaptability in fast-paced environments, and the resilience to move work forward while seeking and incorporating input from others.
  • Good communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Software Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc...)
  • Broad project management skills and disciplined in developing objectives, action plans and effective in defending and selling decisions with confidence
  • Strong 6-sigma understanding and experience, LEAN manufacturing process knowledge, and technical skills.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Software: High proficiency in SolidWorks, Dynamix AX 2012, D365, or similar environment utilizing PDM concepts and applications

Work Environment/Physical Requirements: Fast-paced corporate office environment. Some stress may occur. Regular travel is not expected in this position; however, travel around scheduled projects such as program rollouts may be necessary.
