Highly experienced software engineers, especially those in specialized fields like machine learning, data science, or working at top tech companies, can earn $500,000 or more annually through base salary, bonuses, and stock options. In software engineering, L1, L2, L3, and L4 typically refer to different levels of developer experience and responsibility, with L1 being entry-level and L4 being senior or lead roles. Entry-level software engineers usually start at L1 or L2, focusing on learning and executing tasks under supervision.

Can you be a software engineer with no experience?
