We are looking for a Staff Geotechnical Engineer / EIT to support our geotechnical engineering team with field investigations, engineering analyses, and report preparation for transportation, municipal, utility, power/energy, and commercial development projects.
Job Responsibilities
We are looking for someone with experience or interest in:
  • Soil and rock classification/boring logs
  • Geotechnical field investigations
  • Coordination with drilling subcontractors and laboratory staff
  • Construction observation and troubleshooting geotechnical issues during construction
  • Shallow and deep foundation design support
  • Pavement design support
  • Settlement and slope stability evaluations
  • Engineering analyses and calculations
  • Geotechnical report preparation

Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
  • BS in Civil Engineering required; geotechnical emphasis preferred
  • EIT preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 1 to 4 years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Ability to travel up to 70% during the first year to year and a half
  • Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently while managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, clients, subcontractors, and regulators
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Skills / Experience
The ideal candidate will preferably have:
  • Experience with geotechnical field investigations
  • Experience preparing boring logs and classifying soil and rock samples
  • Experience assisting with shallow/deep foundation design, pavement design, settlement, and slope stability evaluations
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software such as gINT, BoreDM, LPile, SHAFT, Settle3, SLIDE, or similar programs
  • Experience with TxDOT, municipal, utility, transportation, energy, or commercial development projects
  • MS in Civil Engineering with geotechnical emphasis is a plus
