Drawing from our diverse teams of experts and harnessing the unlimited power of teamwork, we put tomorrowโ€™s technology in the worldโ€™s hands today.

About this Role
We are seeking a handsโ€‘on Software/Embedded Systems Engineer to join our UAS development team. This role focuses primarily on developing C++ software running on embedded Linux platforms, integrating sensors and avionics, and working closely with hardware. Candidates should be comfortable working directly with physical systems, performing hardware/software integration, and developing applications using frameworks such as ROS/ROS2. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys practical engineering, systemโ€‘level debugging, contributing to advanced UAS capabilities, and supporting both nextโ€‘generation technologies and proven platforms used to protect deployed warfighters.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain C++ software for UAS systems running on embedded Linux platforms.
  • Implement and integrate ROS/ROS2 nodes for autonomy, perception, control, mission management, or sensor handling.
  • Participate in software development across all phases of the lifecycleโ€”from concept development through lab integration, evaluation, and field testing.
  • Perform handsโ€‘on hardware integration, including connecting sensors, payloads, communication modules, compute hardware, and embedded control systems.
  • Troubleshoot systemโ€‘level issues involving software, hardware interfaces, networking, and realโ€‘time constraints.
  • Work cohesively on multiโ€‘functional teams to deliver reliable, performant, and wellโ€‘validated system functionality under dynamic, fastโ€‘paced program needs.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to software architecture, system design improvements, and development best practices.

Qualifications

Level I:

  • Currently pursuing or completed B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in C++.
  • Experience developing on embedded Linux platforms.
  • Ability to debug complex system interactions across hardware and software.
  • Understanding of embedded systems concepts (I/O interfaces, timing, networking, realโ€‘time application considerations).
  • Familiarity with software configuration management, defect tracking, and continuous integration tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with UAS, autopilots, and integration (PX4, ArduPilot)
  • Experience working with ROS/ROS2.
  • Demonstrated handsโ€‘on hardware experience (sensor integration, interfaces, debugging, lab equipment usage)
  • Experience coding in Python
  • Experience in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, and machine learning techniques.
  • Practical experience implementing or optimizing CV/ML models using frameworks such as OpenCV, TensorRT, TensorFlow/Keras/TensorFlow Lite, PyTorch, OpenVINO, or similar.
  • Experience building and maintaining toolchains for automated builds and deployments.
  • Strong understanding of automated testing and CI/CD processes.
  • Ability to work with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers and emulators
