Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

This entry-level Maintenance Engineer role focuses on performing routine and preventive maintenance on cement plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will work with crushers, grinders, kilns, and material handling systems, diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues, supporting equipment upgrades, and contributing to maintenance planning. This position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on engineering experience while working closely with experienced personnel in a dynamic manufacturing environment, with benefits available from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment such as crushers, grinders, kilns, and material handling systems to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical issues affecting production, using structured problem-solving methods to implement effective and lasting solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts usage, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of maintenance schedules, procedures, and best practices to enhance equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with personnel and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and minimize disruption to production.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing projects, maintenance priorities, and progress updates.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, procedures, and protocols while performing maintenance duties, ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and others.
  • Participate in safety drills and initiatives, and actively contribute to fostering a safety-conscious culture within the facility.

  • Assist in planning major shutdown work requests, including preparing detailed instructions, estimating required human resources, identifying necessary materials and special tools, and estimating job durations.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cement plant environment, with approximately 80% of your time spent on the manufacturing floor and 20% in an office setting. The manufacturing floor is a heavy industrial environment that can be dirty and warm, with exposure to dust, noise, and large rotating equipment. You will work around crushers, grinders, kilns, and material handling systems, using tools, instrumentation, and computer-based systems such as Tabware, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office. The office environment supports planning, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required on the manufacturing floor, and safety practices are a central part of daily operations.
