Job description

Job Brief Candidate will provide Engineering support as part of the Towed Array Handling Equipment Facility at NUWC NPT. Candidate will provide support for QA receipt inspection as well as inspection of vendor repaired material. Candidate should have GDT experience GVI Inc., a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC, and a Federal Government Contractor industry leader, is seeking an Engineer to join our Team in Newport, RI. We are seeking a motivated entry-level Engineer to provide engineering support to both Quality Assurance and Production departments. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent engineering graduate or an engineer early in their career who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in manufacturing, quality systems, and process improvement. The candidate will work closely with Quality, Production, and Engineering personnel to resolve manufacturing and quality issues, interpret engineering requirements, support inspections and investigations, and improve processes. The successful candidate should have a basic understanding of engineering drawings and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide day-to-day engineering support to Quality Assurance and Production. * Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing, dimensional, and quality-related issues on the production floor. * Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements. * Support inspection activities and help determine appropriate measurement and verification methods. * Assist with nonconformance investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and documentation. * Review manufacturing and inspection data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement. * Work with production personnel to improve processes, reduce defects, and increase production consistency and efficiency. * Support the development and improvement of work instructions, inspection methods, process documentation, and quality procedures. * Participate in continuous-improvement initiatives and cross-functional problem-solving activities. * Assist senior engineers and Quality personnel with engineering evaluations, process changes, and other technical projects as assigned. * Maintain accurate technical documentation and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to appropriate stakeholders. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's level degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. * Basic knowledge of GD&T and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. * Understanding of basic manufacturing processes, measurement techniques, and dimensional inspection concepts. * Good written and verbal skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with CAT, statistical analysis, or quality-management software is a plus. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing or quality environment. * Familiarity with root-cause analysis, correction-action methods, and continuous improvement tools. * Exposure to inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical measurement systems, or CMMs. * Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T principles. * Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC0, capability analysis, or Lean manufacturing principles.
