Job description

Who We Are
The Christian Post is one of the largest and most widely read Christian news organizations in the world, reaching millions of readers across digital platforms each month. Our mission is to deliver news, analysis, and commentary that informs and equips the global Church. As our digital presence continues to grow across social media, we are expanding our creative team to bring that mission to the next generation of audiences through compelling video content.
THE ROLE
Social Media Video Editor
We are seeking a talented and creative Social Media Video Editor to join our team. In this role, you will transform raw footage and existing content into high-impact, platform-specific videos for YouTube, Instagram, X, TikTok, and other emerging channels. You will be a key creative voice in how The Christian Post engages audiences visually - helping to make world-class journalism immediately watchable, shareable, and resonant with both long-time readers and new audiences alike.
This is a full-time position that combines editorial instinct, design sensibility, and technical mastery. The ideal candidate is someone who understands both the craft of storytelling and the mechanics of social media algorithms - and who is motivated by the mission of unapologetically reporting the truth through a Biblical lens, despite the cost.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What You'll Do
Platform Content Production
  • Edit raw footage into engaging short-form videos tailored for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook, and longer videos for YouTube.
  • Optimize video aspect ratios, pacing, and length to match the unique specs and algorithms of each platform
  • Integrate audio, licensed music, and voiceovers to maximize reach and engagement
  • Design and animate dynamic on-screen captions, lower thirds, and motion graphic overlays

Brand & Storytelling
  • Ensure every video reflects The Christian Post's editorial standards, voice, and visual identity
  • Transform long-form articles, interviews, and news stories into tight, compelling video narratives
  • Develop reusable motion graphic templates and branded assets that maintain consistency across all channels
  • Stay current on social video trends, formats, and best practices to keep CP content culturally relevant

Collaboration & Workflow
  • Partner with editors, reporters, and the marketing team to align video output with editorial and campaign calendars
  • Manage and maintain an organized media asset library - raw footage, B-roll, graphics, and audio
  • Meet tight turnaround deadlines in a fast-paced, news-driven environment
  • Contribute creative ideas in editorial and strategy meetings; pitch original video concepts proactively

QUALIFICATIONS
What We're Looking For
Required
  • 2+ years of professional video editing experience, with a portfolio demonstrating short-form social content
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects (or equivalent industry-standard tools)
  • Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook content formats and best practices
  • Ability to design and animate motion graphics, captions, and title cards
  • Excellent visual storytelling instincts - strong sense of pacing, rhythm, and narrative structure
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver polished work under deadline
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating in a remote/hybrid environment

Preferred
  • Experience working in a newsroom, digital media company, or faith-based organization
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and the ability to iterate content based on performance data
  • Experience with DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar mobile-first editing platforms
  • Basic graphic design skills using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator
  • Active knowledge of and personal engagement with Christian media and culture

WHY THE CHRISTIAN POST
What We Offer
  • A mission-driven workplace where your work has meaningful cultural and spiritual impact
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Collaborative, supportive team culture
  • Opportunity to shape the social video presence of one of the world's leading Christian news platforms
